However, often with our larger accounts, modifying AIRmobility® to better accommodate specific needs is more common than not. Changes range to special escalation alerts not supported by our existing escalation tools to hundreds of thousands of dollars from custom work such as was completed for Sprint Nextel (see: Case Studies).
Sprint Nextel's case was unique in that they went to an extreme degree in wanting to fully automate the process of the management and tracking of their employees. This was not a back office automated solution but rather, Westlake was contracted to write an entire back office solution hosted on the same AIRmobility® server.
When these services are required, on a small or large scale, the steps taken from start to finish are often the following:
1. Consulting to determine needs up front
2. Specifications document that is collaboratively put together by both Westlake and the customer
3. Agreement is drafted which includes terms, delivery and testing dates and pricing. Specifications document becomes Appendix A of the agreement.
4. Signatures are attached.
5. Development is started and prepared for field testing.
6. Testing is conducted to terms outlined in the agreement
7. New work is deployed
In smaller projects, we often do not require an agreement and agree to bill the customer for the work.
Some examples of custom development:
- Advanced reporting on collected data (view data in pie charts, bar graphs, etc.)
- Statistical driven dashboards
- Back Office Integration
- Advanced management of GPS tracking data
- Changes to client side software to accommodate a unique user interface beyond our existing automated process
- Support for new peripheral blue tooth devices that we do not currently support
