Westlake's management has been involved with wireless data since the inception of sending some of the first text messages using dial-up modems to carriers to send messages to the first alphanumeric pagers. In fact, our text messaging software in the early 1990's was private branded by AT&T Wireless, Sprint, MCI, GTE, AirTouch, PageNet, Arch Wireless, Excel, Comcast Cantel, and PageMart to name a few. Our 500,000 users sending to 20 million devices set the foundation for text messaging as we know it today.

As early pioneers in wireless data, our participation with our carrier partners took on a consulting role in assisting their customers automate with the wireless technology available at the time. Consulting with Fortune 500 companies on how to integrate wireless messaging into their organizations to increase productivity, decrease costs and improve satisfaction was the theme then just as much as it is now. Consulting projects ranged from imbedding wireless technology into firmware for Hewlett Packard to creating the first wireless slot machine notification system for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. We have pre-loaded software on over 1 million Hitachi Lap Tops and saved the State of California over $1 Billion dollars in preventing wide scale rolling black outs developing an automated wireless power aggregation system.

And it is not just large companies.

We are currently retained by a small sports management accounting firm, a regional elevator repair company, a small phone book distribution company and even a one man show running a graffiti clean up service for the City of San Francisco (think automated before and after photos for proof of performance sent right to the city in real time -date, time, GPS location, reports, etc.).
